We returned for another fantastic stay at Summer Lodge which is made by the wonderful staff who are so kind efficient and courteous. We ate both in the hotel and at the Acorn Inn and the food at both places was really delicious. I would thoroughly recommend both.

We loved our stay here ! We stayed in Superior King room 9 which overlooked the lovely garden and far hills. We were so impressed by all the little treats that kept coming. The cocktail on arrival with nibbles, followed by fudge on day 2 and departure water with cookies and marmalade on day 3. The sitting room was very comfortable for pre dinner drinks. We were very happy with the delicious breakfasts and dinner. A special mention must go to all the staff who went out of their way to please. We would love to return.

Just had a two day "Escape" break, two dinners included in package one at their sister pub the Acorn Inn and the other in the main restaurant in the hotel. Pub dinner a little disappointing, very ordinary pub food which looked like it had sat under the keep warm lights a little too long but ok. One of us had a souffle desert looked as if it had been made earlier that afternoon, chewy. Dinner in the restaurant the night later was superb, couldn't fault it, deserves at least another red rosette! Breakfasts were disappointing, the menu was good but the food (and tea) not very hot. Staff helpful and friendly room was clean and very nice decor.

My husband and I had a wonderful 2night stay at summer lodge! The food was exquisite, the staff were so friendly and helpful - the grounds are stunning and the overall experience was tranquil and luxurious. The Acorn pub down the road was also excellent in food and service. Honestly couldn’t fault the whole experience - perfect stay and would love to come back! The secret escapes price point meant we could enjoy this whereas we never would have been able to stretch to the standard rates. That’s not to say it’s not absolutely the money - but we were thrilled to enjoy it at even better value. Thank you to all the staff for a great break!

The hotel is situated in a beautiful, country village. The hotel grounds are beautiful and I’m sure they would be even more so in summer. We were given a room upgrade from a cosy double to a much larger room (room 7). This was decorated light blue and was beautiful, very spacious and had a large bathroom. Our room was ready earlier than expected so we dropped off our bags before heading to the spa. We were greeted with Prosecco, olives and candied nuts which was a lovely touch. Some of the photos on tripadvisor make some areas look dated and tatty but in reality, the hotel is stunning and very grand. Everything is decorated beautifully and I loved the style of every area. The spa was very clean and not dated at all. There isn’t a lot of information online about what it includes; there is a pool, sauna, hot tub, lounging area and treatment rooms. We both had a Swedish massage. Before dinner we had a drink in the drawing room, everyone was well-dressed and most of the men wore a blazer. You can dress up formally and not feel out of place. Dinner in the restaurant was delicious. I recommend the crab starter. The portions are small (fine dining) but there were additional unexpected courses in between and we were very full. The service was 10/10, all the staff were friendly and efficient. We felt very welcome and we will definitely return. I have recommended it to our friends and family too because we left very happy with our stay.

We spent a wonderful afternoon at Summer Lodge, and Spa, where the welcome was lovely and friendly. The treatments were superb, definitely the best we had experienced. We finnished off with a delicious cream tea at the Hotel, there the service is excellent.

Exceptional Hotel with attentive staff, lovely clean rooms and great dinner and breakfast in the restaurant. On a cold afternoon it was particularly nice sitting in the lounge in front of a log fire and indeed the whole hotel was beautifully warm. We were only sorry we only booked for 2 nights but we got an excellent deal through Secret Escapes.
